Pyrometer problems
#22
Well, mine wasn't snipped cause of length, it was out of stupidity. I just assumed wire to wire, all good....

When I got my Isspro's there was a lead wire in the also, like an extra few feel of just the 2 wires, I didn't need it to wire up the guages... Should I have put it on anyway? Are my gauges messed up? Will the Earth be thrown off it's axis and all of us be thrown into a black hole?
For the guage to read accurately you need to use all the supplied wire as shipped. That's how the guage is calibrated. Sounds crazy, but it makes a difference.

Thermocouples measure very small voltages (thousanths of a volt actually)...
For example - the mV reading at 0 deg F is -0.692 and the mV reading at 500 deg F is 10.561 mV. From this, we can see that a very small change in millivolts is actually a HUGE temperature change.
Therefore, its important to follow the pyrometer install instructions EXACTLY. You shouldnt be cutting any wires or ommitting any parts - doing so will very likely affect the mV reading, which will give you measurement error on your guage. Theres nothing wrong with having the extra wire rolled up under your dash.
