Somebody Explain Air Filters To Me

i dont think colder air would help for better flow...infact the air would be denser so in theory it would actually be less sufficient which is why if you are getting "cold air induction" the air is denser which means there is more of it to burn, right?? so if there is more air on a computer controlled engine then its going to adjust the ratio to inject more fuel to match the air better...so again in theory you would be lowering your fuel mileage...

unfornuatly we got a new project manager and he messed everything up, so now were back to being changed to every 3 months, and now every unit in the disctrict (10.8 million square feet worth of building) have to be clean annually by 4 guys

Now let's get back to the subject at hand here. Keepin in mind here that I'm a year or two away from havin my Doctoral Degree in Physics the way it sounds like some a you have so bringin this conversation down to my level, what do I need to look for and know before I install a new filter on my truck.
