Well, I spend most of my days fixing, installing, testing, repairing and building instruments that measure industrial processes....FWIW, I think you better save your money. My experience with flowmeters like that (more specifically rotameters) is that it will not give you the accuracy that you are looking for. Looks like its more for measuring hydraulic fluid instead of fuel flow.

That flow computer Andrew has sounds pretty promising though....this is the type of instrument that will give the accuracy and repeatability that were looking for.

So Doc, without coming right out and sayin it, your tellin me to save my money, your gonna build me a better flow meter than I can buy. I do insist on payin for the parts though.

And ya I would love to have something like that system Andrew posted. I think it would be great to have all that info at your finger tips. You would know instantly if something was wrong with your truck.

Guys, the system I purchase for my boat is a the Cruisemaster 5500 and cost me around $250. Here is the link to the diesel model, Cruisemaster 6500, but I'm not sure of its cost (probably similar pricing). These units will calculate the burn rate of your engine under certain conditions and provide you with very accurate information. This is the marine version, but I don't know why you couldn't use it on a truck. There are two sensors; one from the tank (feed) and one to the tank (return). I hope that clarifies it a little.

Default Over Flow Valve on the VP

Where can I find the overflow valve for $14? The dealership wants $55.

Talk about a price increase. I bought one from Dodge and one from Cummins when I was fightin with mine about a year back and they were both within a few dollars of one another. You may try Cummins and see what they have them priced at. Generally speaking Cummins will almost always be cheaper for any parts you can get through them.

Still open for options, opinions and comments on this subject.

Dr. Evil, since your our resident expert on meters and guages I would also like your opinion on the system that Piper posted about. I'm thinkin real hard about this thing. http://www.floscan.com/html/blue/ser...?sid=1&catid=2
