I usually hear it called a delete kit and they all basically remove the EGR from the truck. Some are just caps that go over the original holes and some are whole new intakes that reroute the coolant so you dont get more errors on your truck. Just depends how much you wana spend.

The reason for getting one is that the cooling system for the EGR doesnt seem to be able to handle the heat in the EGR and they end up over heating and seizing and in some situations they seize open which has happened to mean therefor dropping your fuel milage cause there is a constant open between the exhause and intake which 'cokes' up the intake choking out the air. I just bought a kit for mine with the new intake and rerouting of the coolant lines. Just waiting for it to warm up so I can put it in cause my EGR doesnt ever last very long before breaking.

I have had nothing but Ford all my life. Loved them until i traded my 2000 model with the 7.3 in on an 03 with the 6.0 - guess i got a bad one - put all the injectors in it TWICE in like 6 weeks - traded that in on an 06 Dodge 2500 CTD and love it!! Bout a year later i bought an 08 Ford - long story short, i'm going to court on April 1 - me vs Ford Motor Company - state of Texas says they should buy it back - anyhow, i do believe the 06 dodge i got has switched me to a Dodge fan - better mpg's, more power, love the 6 speed by the way - the dodge is not as comfortable as the ford but i got the truck to use - it stays running, unlike last 2 fords, so i can use it.

My opinion - hope it helps

I would get the 5.9 Cummins personally.

too many bad FORD out there that i have seen over the ones that are good. will give FORD an atta boy for comfort and looks. have an 05 F750 service truck at work but it has a 5.9 commo n rail CUMMINS. All of the service trucks we have had CUMMINS in them and the only problems we have had are lift pumpms and one truck needed a new egr cooling system. This is an industrial version of the pickup truck engine as far as horsepower and torque go but the internals are all the same. My service truck is 33,000 gvw and I usually haul right at 30,000 all the time and keep the right foot down on the metal most of the time and it is really reliable. So I guess you can say that I am biased on sick.0 and the new sick.4 litre Fords in pickups.
