AutoMeter gauge fittings...
Hey guys, i am just wanting to make sure that the fittings that come with the autometer gauges will work on my truck. Will the fitting that comes with my boost gauge work on my truck. Its a brass fitting.
Has anyone used that boost fitting from the gauge and had it work?
Also, the fuel pressure sending unit. I got the electric gauge and this is simply a threaded both with a hole on one end and an electrical connecter on the other. Will this fitting screw into the bottom of my fuel filter canister?
I know the pyro. will work since i drill and tap that hole myself to whatever size is needed. My main concern if sor the boost gauge and fuel pressure sending unit.
TIA Guys

I dont know which fitting yer talkin about but brass will be just fine...if yer talkin about the fitting that you drill and tap into the intake horn it will be fine....I would rather have a boost bolt though

Go buy a brand new grease gun hose and ccrew it into a tapped banjo bolt then put the electric sending unit on the other end of the hose...this will eliminate vibration and make the sender last much longer

use some anti-sieze on the install for the pyro

The brass fightings work just fine. Boost bolt is the preferred way to go, but if I was to drill/tap anything it'd be the intake horn. Since it can be removed to do the drilling/tapping.
Install a "snubber" valve in front of the Autometer senders. I went round and round with Autometer over a sender that went bad and they won't warranty the sender without a snubber valve installed.

what is a snubber valve and the fitting that came with my boost gauge is a brass hollow fitting of some sort. Do i need a boost bolt besides that or will that fitting itself work.
Also, if i need a boost bolt, can i go somewhere to get it overnighted as i need it by saturday.

A "snubber" valve is just a small block w/ a t-handle that adjusts the opening inside the valve to control pulses from the injection pumps. The snubber valve is available at most auto parts stores w/o much problem.
Overnight isn't a problem generally but is rather spendy.

A little confusion here....there are 2 things you can use to control pulses from the VP....
1) a needle valve: http://www.vulcanperformance.com/ser...h-8-NPT/Detail - this is just a valve with a very fine adjustment.
or
2) a pressure snubber: http://www.dieselmanor.com/isspro/isspro_accy.asp (scroll to the bottom of the page)
You can get a boost Bolts from Vulcan Performance also. http://www.vulcanperformance.com/ser...st-Bolt/Detail

you wont need the snubber if ya do the grease gun hose as an extention it will also act as a pulsation dampner of sorts......myself I would tap the filter discharge rather that at the pump.......same pressure any way
