Default Duramax/ Powerstroke Air-Flow Regulators?

What's this I hear about "throttle plates" on Powerstrokes and Duramaxes?

What do they do?

So how do they work?

They limit the air supply to make the mixture richer... That causes higher EGT's?

something like that, they gotta get the egt's up to 1100 before and after the dpf to burn all the soot off

Wouldn't you want to keep as much air in the mixture as possible, and then just inject fuel on the exhaust stroke?

How does limiting air to the mixture make things burn hotter? Traditional reasoning says that lean mixtures burn hotter.
