Default VIN number

Is there somewhere you can go and enter you VIN number and it will tell you stuff like what size ring gear in the front and rear, which transfer case, and stuff like that?

Not sure about Chevy but with dodge you can go into any stealer (dealer) and get a build sheet for free.

When people start talking about VINs on forums, it’s usually because they want to understand exactly what their truck came with or verify details before buying parts. I remember digging into my own truck’s history and realizing how much information is packed into those 17 characters. Sometimes it’s hard to know where to start, especially if you aren’t familiar with the codes, but using tools that let you compare against a ram vin window sticker made things much clearer. Seeing what the factory originally installed helped me avoid ordering the wrong parts and gave me confidence when planning upgrades or repairs. It’s one of those simple checks that saves time and frustration down the road.
