Default Propane

Anyone run propane? if you do, did you build your own set-up? how do you like it? is it worth it?
I'm thinkin about doing my own but i cant really find a decent set of "instructions"
i know the basics of it and i got a pretty good idea on how to do it except for the gauge/solonoid deal.... and anything i gotta worry about.... any help would be awesome

even a do-it-yourself "easy guide" on water/meth would work too

Thanks,
JOE

well, the company i used to work for had it on their ford powestroke dually. (7.3L) though, i never drove it when the propane was engauged, b/c we had someone steal the solenoid off it. but my boss said it helped with mpg and when pulling heavy loads when the propane kicked it, it definalty pulled

I've ran propane in an experimental context and run water-methanol on a daily basis.

I think that water-methanol is the better way to go. They both can make the same amount of power and are equally as likely to knock, but it seems like you need less water-meth to make the power propane does. Methanol also comes with the water that works to cool down the charge air and exhaust gas; propane doesn't have any intercooling properties.

Here's a guide to a really, really minimalist propane system.

LPG (Propane) Fumigation for Diesel Engines

When I did it, I used a flow meter instead of screwing with the orifice sizing. Propane doesn't rely on phase-changes for intercooling, so there's no reason to not use a pressure regulator or flow meter instead of rigid orifices and solenoids. If I were to build a real, automatically-adjusting system, I'd start with a Cooling Mist programmable controller, like I used on my water-meth setup.

Here's some pictures of my water-injection system. Not quite a how-to guide, but it's enough to get an idea of how to overengineer something. I need to post new pictures of it.

I don't think that propane is under that much pressure, is it?

If the propane has enough pressure to overcome boost pressure, it'd work fine. If not, then it wouldn't work at all.

i dont really know. i semi re-installed it on the dualie and just ran the hose from from the solenoid location and drilled a hole into the rubber intake tube. then ran the hose in their. bad i know, but thats wha my boss told me to do, so what my boss says, goes. IMHO, i would have done it like that though

Hello
I'm new to diesel tuning and i was wondering, can you run propane AND water/methanol injection or is there just no point?
