i was looking into buying a set of train horns in the near future and want to know what you guys think as good brands and where to get them. i think i want a 3 gallon tank and want to spend about $300, maybe a little less. i want something of pretty good quality and want it to sound good! i dont like some ive heard where theyre too high pitch. so i was looking for some recomendations from those that have train horns or know about them.

$300 isnt much for a train horn system. Not going to be very good quality. I've got the Seige Engineering quad horns and they've got a really good sound. Good balance between pitch and deep tone.

 

For about $300 you can get the basic kit from Siege that I had. The horns are plenty loud for most and will take up to 150 psi.

The compressor and tank are all one piece. This is kind of nice for tight locations but you don't have much air and it takes a while for it to refill. Also, according to Siege, this compressor can't get wet so you're stuck mounting this somewhere under the hood or bed.

The compressor quality is horrible (I went through 3) and the pressure switch started cutting out at 100 psi one day all on its own. This was all with in 1 year of buying the kit too.

I will say that the 2 times that I dealt with Siege Engineering's customer service they were fantastic people and really went the extra mile for me.

My advice would be to do what DD said and spend a little more money to get a good kit from them or Hornblasters.

Depends on which system you get. If I had it to do all over again I would've bought one of the good quality $300 compressor systems from another company and the horns from Seige for about $150.

 

ill probably end up going with a seige kit for now. seems to have good reviews and all and im not looking for anything great just some nice train horns with a nice tone

 

I have the siege 5 trumpet with the 200 psi compressor and 3 gallon tank. Mine has worked without a hitch.

I would not do hornblasters though.

Just make sure you get one of the better kits like Aarons and not one of the inexpensive small tank units. I blew my compressor up twice. Bout to install a 200psi 5 gallon system since I run my shocks off of it too.

 

cant i pick up a normal compressor and tank from a local store and buy the trumpets from seige? i found seige's site and ive concluded that i want the kong mkII's
