Default A Warning While You're At Events

I just saw this posted through a Vendor on one of our Brethren local sites and wanted to pass it on. I have no reason to doubt the warning since the guy giving it is very active in the drag racing, Sled Pulling and performance scene.

Just heard through the grapevine that some of the manufacturers have been showing up to dyno events and grabbing vins---voiding warranties!!!!!!
just wanted to let everyone know if you see some stuffy guy checking out your truck it might not be a fan--cover up those vin numbers!!!!

yeah i heard of dealerships doin that at an event back home where i grew up called truck night basically bunch of good ol boys goin thru mud pits, rock crawlin, tug o war, drinkin...
the dealerships would check em out to see who is beatin on their new trucks so they can void warranty if they come in with somethin broke

Not that I have anything to worry about with my warranty, it was expired within the first year because of mileage. But if i had a warranty left I think just to be safe I would cover the VIN up with a piece of tape while I was at any event, just in case. Takes 2 minutes and comes back off just as easy when it's over. Sure nothin to lose by doin it.

With cell phone cameras now days they don't even have stand there and write your number down. Just walk by the windshield and snap a picture, takes a few seconds and they can write it down later.

Just an FYI , insurance company reps sometimes attend certain events also... so it might be wise to pull the plates off while your there also.
