Default Is it this tough to own a diesel or is it just my luck?

hi guys, so I bought my first diesel last year and I love it. I've grown up to have a desire for cars and trucks. I get absolutely no joy in driving any regular old car so what did I buy for my first expensive vehicle? A ford 6.0 diesel, and I absolutely knew the dangers of this make and was willing to take the chances. I just didnt think I'd be so unlucky as I was. In this year I had the first repair trip of replacing the heads with performance heads, gaskets of course, head studs of course, oil cooler, oil filters, fuel filters and all the hardware that comes with that repair. All not out of choice. That trip was $8000. The second trip was ball joints, tie rod, axle joint seals, brakes, calipers in all pads and hardware. That was $1200. Now I'm into the problem of my u joints seizing up. So my option is (because I wasn't thinking I'd have to dish out 10k in one year of owning a vehicle after paying $17000 for it at a dealership) is to sell the truck because I only owe $12k on it, the first repair bill is payed half off so the rest I make off the truck will almost pay off all the bills from repairs and the truck . So my question is, is it really this freakin expensive to own a diesel. I mean I love the truck it is bad to the bone I'd love to buy another wether it's an 06-07 duramax or a 3rd gen Cummins. Did I just get unlucky with a poor tempered truck? I mean I am aware that if I bought the trucks mentioned above the whole engine problem wouldn't have happened, I wouldn't mind a $1000 bill every so often but almost $10k in one year??
