Default What is the best diesel truck for just going 20 miles a day to school and longevity

I am looking maybe at a diesel truck because I like them a lot. I'm looking for a truck to just do 20 miles a day minimum to get me to school and tow a 3000 pound trailer twice a year and to get the most out of it. I'm not looking for power I'm mainily looking for power and longevity combined. I was thinking 7.3 powerstroke or 6.6 duramax. What do you guys think? Should I even get a diesel?

GM, DODGE, & FORD all have their pro's & con's. I don't think we'll ever find the answer of which truck is the best

In your situation, I would just get a 1/2-ton truck, especially if you are only going to tow a 3k pound trailer twice a year. Even if you pulled that trailer everyday, three-thousand pounds is not a heavy load. I'd save some money and just get a 1/2-ton truck. I've owned Chevys and Dodges, but all trucks have their pros and cons.
