Default 1st DRW Truck Buying Advice?

hi, my name is Alice and i drive a 99 Ford e-350 powered by the 7.3 Turbo, 4R100, & Dana 70 with little over 235K on it. i need a DRW Truck and wondering which will be best for me and my disability. i know cumins gets the best Fuel Economy, Duramax has onstar, and power stroke is the brand i have always used before in gas engines. I'm considered legally wheelchair bound and need to transport my chin in the back. i need a 4 door model automatic 4x4. my back is so bad i can pass out if someone runs into my vehicle. so i can see the benefits of onstar. dodge has the best MPG and seams to last the longest. and i have always have been a ford girl. so my question is with my needs with would be the best truck for me?

Thanks in Advance, Alice

I am a Chevy guy but Dodge has got a Cummins and in the heavy duty world from a mechanic stand point I would rather work on a straight six than a V 8 Diesel. Any of the new trucks after 2007.5 have the DPF (EPA mandated clean air diesel particulate filter) which means you will have to add Diesel exhaust fluid (urea yes that's pee) at every fill up. The cost of maintaining the DPF systems can get pretty high as time goes on.
We have a 2009 four door Dodge big horn gasser that the wife drives and it is pretty spacious in the back. The older quad cabs like the one ton I drive may not be big enough back seat area. I would just look around and see some trucks that you like and find the best fit for what you need.

Stay away from the 6.0 (2003-2007) I have heard.
The 6.4 (2008-2010) or the 7.3 (99-2002) Powerstroke is better.

Hice looking truck!

problem is the 6.4 (2008-2010) may be out my 15k price range. and the 7.3 (1999-2002) is preferred but getting a lot harder to find. i have a 7.3 in my van now but to fix the van I'm looking at 5k-10k for a vehicle worth 4k at best id be way upside down on it. but have to admit i love the 7.3 and i hope tp find a 7.3 if i can.
