It requires something larger—something that’s capable of transporting supplies into battle, and wounded vehicles out. Filling this duty is the Logistics Vehicle System. The LVS first entered service for the United States Marine Corps in 1985 as part of its heavy-tactical-vehicle fleet and was designed and manufactured by Oshkosh. After many years of faithful service, the LVS was replaced in 2009 by the LVSR, Logistics Vehicle System Replacement. This new model sports a 10-wheel-drive system and features Oshkosh’s proven TAK-4 fully independent suspension. Also new for the LVSR are an improved weapons turret powered by an electric motor, and integrated vehicle armor with the ability to add more.
