Not-So-Routine Maintenance - Final Gear

For decades now it would seem that the OEMs have been purposely making it increasingly difficult for the average person to perform even simple maintenance on their own. Most annoying of all is oil filter placement.I sometimes feel like I’m stuck in the minority, and not for any obvious reason. You see, cars and trucks are my hobby and my passion, and because of that it would seem that I have amassed a decent size fleet of vehicles. I am by no means a hoarder; I don’t have the property or the income to achieve that status, yet. Although, if the opportunity ever presents itself, my wife and I may just act on opening the long-threatened “shelter for old, used, abandoned, and unloved minitrucks,” but that’s a story for another day. Getting back to the issue at hand, between my wife and I, we have a total of six vehicles that we currently keep registered, insured, and maintained. That alone isn’t quite enough to land me in the minority of Americans, however. The fact that I personally perform routine maintenance seems to leave me wondering sometimes.
