Options When UpgradingAs I gear up for another round of adding horsepower to my 7.3L Power Stroke (which you’ll read about next month), I’m planning ahead, well into the future. The reason? This will be the third time in five years that I’ve upgraded injectors while leaving the bottom end untouched, and now I’ll be making at least three and a half times more horsepower than my ’97 F-350 did in stock form. While I wouldn’t call what I’m about to do a recipe for disaster, you never know how long a 17-year-old, 182,000-mile, factory rotating assembly will last once you throw more and more horsepower at it. And I don’t want to be stuck between a rock and a hard place if the current engine lets loose on me.
