Default 89 f250 for a 96 2500 cummins

a guy offer me to trade my 1989 ford 7.3 idi for a 96 2500 dodge 12 valve cummins it needs a starter and exhaust is this a good trade? are these trucks good?

I would think it would be a no brainer. Trade him!! But the dodge does have its issue's. front ends are ****!! Steering could be a pain. Auto trans will not hold anything much more than stock. Even the 5 spd's had there issues with losing gears and failures. But you have one of the best power plants on the market under the hood. And they are really reasonably priced to upgrade. Good luck

x2 if the trucks are in similar mechanical condition. the 12V is a WAY superior powerplant.

Make sure you check out his truck real good, there must be a reason he wants to get rid of his dodge

i checked it out and it needs starter side mirrors exhaust and a windshield and oil pressure sending unit. i went ahead and said id trade i figured if i had to sell it i could sell it for more than the ford

That guy must have a screw loose, either that or the truck has hidden issues. First thing I would do is take care of the KDP.
