Default 2006 Ford F350 Powerstroke

I have a 2006 F350 that is blowing white smoke out of the exhaust, check engine light is on, and its running rough. About a week ago it started to get hot and we found out that it was low on coolant. It was added and afterwards ran fine and no leaks were visible. It hasn't been driven since then which was about a week and a half ago. Last night we drove it and that is when the white smoke etc. happened. I've read some other post that say it could be an egr valve issue. Anyone have any other ideas?

EGR is a good suggestion. I had the same problem about two weeks ago. Had to replace the EGR valve and EGR cooler. The white smoke is a result of your truck burning off the leaking coolant. Good Luck!

Thanks, I'm thinking that is what it is also. What did that cost you if you don't mind saying?

I would love tell ya but it was warranty work. All I paid was a $100 deductible. I just got real lucky it didnt wait another two months, my warranty's up in August.

Default EGR

I had my EGR Valve replaced by Ford and the part ran about $280 plus labor was about $110.. ran me a pretty penny. But it definitely made a difference. I am gettin ready to order the Upgraded EGR cooler from bulletproofdiesel.com, give it a look, its the same price as the stock one but it's interior design prevents damage to the structural integrity of it. Plus its warranteed.

whistlinDixie definitely hit it on the head though with the EGR suggestion. Beginning issues are the white smoke and low coolant. You'll eventually notice your Coolant "puking" or pushing up out of the coolant tank due to overheating. Hopefully you're able to replace it prior to that.

Good luck!
