Default Back in a powerstroke again.

Well kinda. I bought a 95 F350, 4x4, reg cab, XLT. Truck looks very clean but has an issue with the transmission shifting from 1st to 2nd. I bought it cheap so I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with it yet, other than obviously fix or replace the trans. Headed out to Oregon on Friday with the trailer, pics coming soon!

Nice!

hard to say on the tranny... Could be something as simple as a shift pack...

Well it runs great, it's doing some weird stuff with the shifting and it keeps changing what it's doing. I am anxiously awaiting two sensors tomorrow morning and see what happens then. I can drive it around and it feels pretty strong, I need to check and see if it has a chip on it actually. If I remember right these actually have a chip that plugs into the pcm behind the kick panel right?

I'm liking the truck so far just need to get the trans working right.

Yup...they have a slot to plug in a 'chip'...all the 7.3's do. You have to pull the ECM out to get at it. LH kick panel, behind the parking brake pedal, unhook the connector under the hood and remove a couple bolts (unless someone else was there before and left them out) from behind the kick panel and the 'computer' slides out.

The connection point is covered in monkey jizz that has to be cleaned off, unless there's a chip there already, or someone had one then took it out, in that case the connections will be clean and/or corroded a little bit.

Is the overdrive light flashing on the shifter? It could be something as simple as the MLP sensor out of adjustment, or maybe going gunnybag.

Well it won't hold second gear worth a darn. I checked the pressure both at idle and under load, the pressure is in range at idle for all positions but low on all but 1st manual under load. Second gear won't hold good enough to do any kind of stall pressure check.

I went ahead and ordered a transmission for it. Stock rebuild with standard updates, billet torque converter and a "towing" valve body. I'm also going to put a larger cooler on it just to be safe. It should be good to go for me after this, only mods I'm looking at are a downpipe and a crossover hose, besides freshening up the FPR and injector O-rings. I haven't pulled the PCM out yet, still thinking their may be a mild chip or program loaded on this thing. I swear it runs from 40-70 like my duramax does on stock.
