Default How do Powerstrokes compare to Cummins and Duramax ?

I'm new to this whole diesel seen..........What years are the best years for Powerstroke ? How durable are Powerstrokes and how long do they last ( like how many miles on average before they need a rebuild ) ? How does a Powerstroke match up against a Cummins or a Duramax ?

the best years of the powerstroke are the 94-97 7.3 or 99-00 7.3. the cummins is definalty a better and more reliable diesel. i pulled my 91 7.3 non-powerstroke and am putting a 500hp 94 cummins 12v

powerstrokes are generally under powered from stock compared to the cummins and dmax but with money anything is possible in the aftermarket world. everyone has there own opinions but if i were to get one it would be a 01-early 03 7.3 they switched to the 6.0 in later 03 in which i own one, they dont carry a very good reputation in the diesel world althought with a little money, an egr delete and head studs, with a sct custom tune they can run really good and make a ton of power. from my experience they dont offer as much aftermarket stuff for the early 99 7.3 in the lines of turbos and such, and the 01 and on 7.3 i believe had a higher hp and tq from stock

Hey buddy go with a ford. They will last forever.

I have an '03 6.0L and i have over 190,000 miles on it and it still runs amazing, hell i even get about 18 mpg's. That truck has been in every weather condition you can think of, its been offroading.

It hauls *** too, the engine is stock, i don't have any chips in it or anything (im going to get one), it has a magnaflow 4'' cat back exhaust, and it sounds amazing.

as far as the year, i would go anywhere between an '03 - 0'7, there mostly the same.
But I would wait for the 2011 superduty, that truck is amazing

and as far as comparing ford to any other truck, good luck figuring that one out.
