I have a 94 PSD that was in a roll-over. It has 290 K and pretty banged up. It starts everyday and I pull a trailer of some sort most of the time. Not really good to drive when empty and torturous. I just got (still need to do the paper work but dealer made me drive it home and I just drove it for 250 miles) an 05 F260 manual XL (it doesn't even have power windows) and I love it.

We did have my father in laws 07 6.0 F350 dually for 2 months and his 09 for 3 weeks. Not enough time maybe but I've pulled some horses to Denver and they drive nice. Almost car like.

I think the reason people beat up on the 6.0 is that it does not have a redline or a high one and people take off pegging it to 3500 RPM. The 7.3 have a lower redline and there is less tendency to drive them hard. This is what I think anyway. My goal is to ride the the 6.0 gently. Maybe if I just speed shift them -- no clutch and irritate everyone behind me by taking off slow and driving like a grandma.

Don't know about 99-03 PSD, but the 6.0 trucks seems to have better power and excellent drivabilty. My father in laws construction team has mainly 6.0's and he said not much problems so far.

My buddy just sold his 03 F-350 with the 6.0. He never had any big problems with just usual wear and tear stuff. I think it had like 175k on it or somewhere around there

It replaces the EGR and doesn't recirculate the exhaust back into the intake. From what I have read it is a must if you plan on doing any mods to your truck. They seem to fail often in 05-07 PSD.
