Here's a simple & cheap way to prevent your tailgate from being stolen.
Remove your tailgate{If you have a back-up camera, disconnect the camera cable}
On my 2013 F-250 tailgate I needed a 1 5/8 inch steel ring, It just so happens that a chain link pole is 1 5/8 in diameter, with a hacksaw or electric angle grinder cut 7/8 of an inch from the pole, paint the 7/8 inch ring you cut from the pole to match the color of your tailgate, now you'll need to hammer the 7/8 inch ring to the tailgate{use a block of wood on top of the ring & hammer the block of wood until you knock the ring in, now you'll need a T-50 torx bit to remove the tailgate hinge & put the tailgate hinge on the tailgate. Now you'll need a buddy to hold the tailgate in place as you screw on the tailgate hinge using the T-50 bit, make sure you line up the tailgate hinge back to the same place the hinge was before you removed it. Remember to connect the back up camera cable back. I don't lock my tailgate anymore, don't want the scumbag thug busting the lock too find out he won't be able to steal my tailgate

 

Some worthless scumbag tried to steal my tailgate, last night. This morning i notice that the steel cables that hold the tailgate were dangling & my tailgate wasn't locked, also my tailgate & bumper were covered in blood. The reason the poor excuse of human waste couldn't steal my tailgate because i had my mechanic put the steel ring
