Default Wicked Wheel

I have a 02 f250 7.3 6speed and was thinking about putting a wicked wheel in it to reduce surge is it worth it?

Supporting mods

TS 6 positon
AFE Stage 2 Cold air Intake
MBRP 4" Straightpipe 5" tip
Stage 1 160cc injectors

I was thinking about maybe putting in a garrett 38r turbo any ideas?

I don't know, it has 120k on it and still running strong. Most miles were driving interstates but it has lived through some hard mountain miles.

get the generation 2 wicked wheel! the 38r is a nice upgrade also with lower egt's and you can tow hard with it in higher hp settings

so besides the price difference, whats the reasoning behind going to this instead of simply a different turbo?

I'm not one to be dismantling a turbine in my garage, so note that I'd have to be taking it to a shop to get put in. what would the benefit to this mod be, rather than simply bolting, say, a D66 onto my pedestal? by the time I get my own turbine worked on, I can probably buy a whole new turbo.
when the OP says "to reduce surge", I'd assume he means turbo lag?

reduces compressor surge on turbos with strait fins, 94-97 and some e99's had a regular wicked wheel from the factory. gen 2 WW will pick up an additional 10 psi. but a d66 would be better if you wanted to spend the extra cash
