Default What year model was the best diesiel engine?

Hey all,
Looking to buy a used Ford F350 between 2001-2007. What was the best year model engine that had the least problems?

My ideal vehicle is: F350, Crew Cab (or super cab), HD, superduty turbo, 4x4, Long bed

Thanks for your help, ED

Are you going to pull, mod it, are you going to work on yourself

2007 6.0 would be my choice...

6.0 gets a bad rap, but its a great little motor that loves a little more power with just a few mods.

Well, I'm looking at a 2007 3500HD LT model with the 6.6 LBZ engine (172000) miles. Looks like a pretty good deal. $17,250. Might get this one. Thoughts?

If it was me I would go with the 7.3, cause I found, with the newer engines all the emissions CRAP, when somethin goes wrong you'd pay rediculous amount of money to fix it. Now the 6.7's seem to be fine, but me if I was in ur shoes I'd go with the 7.3, I would also if I was pullin stuff I would get a stick shift for hills and heavy loads. Thats just me.

^ yeah forgot to say that with my other post all that epa stuff is a pain to deal with, not sure on how well the upgrades are for them either because i know you have to keep within epa standards may be wrong on that but go with the 7.3 they are bullet proof and great for hauling i pull equipment all the time in nc where its 100+ deg and very hilly and my 7.3 works great couldn't be happier
