Steering noise

Question Steering noise

Does anyone elses power steering make like a winding noise when they turn the steering wheel? Is that normal or no? I say normal cause all the fords I have had have had the same problem? Help plz..

well it's probably not "normal" but since alot of them do it i guess it's ok..

mine does it every once in a while i just had my pump relplaced it still makes a few noises old trucks will make odd noises mine ust to groan loudly and it was hard to turn kinda like a truck with out power steering but trucks will make noises as long as its not hard to turn you should be fine if you want to get it checked take it to a good shop they can look at it for you just be careful some shops will say its busted to make money off of you.

It's like a loud groan it's more annoying then anything.

hey, try lucas power steering stop leak. it elimates leaks but also some odd noises! good luck, let us know if that helps!!!

Some additive may help, definitely check your fluid level and look for any leaks. Make sure belt tension is good suck if it was a belt making the noise(not likely I think you'd know the difference).

No it's the power steering cause I can feel it thru the wheel and the break pedal.

Yeah... thats actually a terrible idea. The fluid in our system is ATF, not power steering fluid, which is what the lucas stuff is designed for. Instead flush the system, its super easy.

didnt realize that but the lucas stuff is what i run it both my trucks and never had any issues. actually did quiet one of my trucks down.

Well. In reality, it might actually be fine. I just don't like mixing fluids especially when they're not supposed to be mixed.

It may be that the Lucas stuff is fine with ATF, but they didn't design it for that so it's hard to know if damage is done, even of its just to the fluid.
