is there a right or wrong way to break in a new motor? i have the following done to it

250/200 Hybrids
Adrenaline HPOP
66mm Extended Tip Borg Warner W/ .96 Exhaust Housing Black Widow Diesel's T-4 set up
Push Rods
Valve Springs
Cryo Treated and Balanced Bottom End
With Swamps Tunes

just wondering if there is a special way to break them in or anything like that, whats the do's and don'ts on a new motor like this, any input is appreciated, thanks guys!

 

they will be opinions on this but mine is just cruise around and keep a check on the vitals for awhile.

 

Once it's operating and on the road drive it about how you normally would, maybe don’t hammer on it too hard. I like to do an oil change about 500 miles, and then a couple thousand miles after that. I'm suffering of brain fade right now, does the 7.3psd have a spin-on oil filter accessible from below the engine? If so I'd get a Filtermag from Jegs or Summitracing, basically a small strap with powerful bar magnets in it that sticks on your oil filter and pulls out any flecks of iron or steel in your oil. I've got kind of a large pipe cutter that I use to open up old oil filters, and the Filtermag always leaves outlines of the magnets in fine metal shavings in the filter housing. Better there than going back into the engine.

thanks guys, that's what i was thinking would be best is basically just cruise around and take it easy for bit while keeping a close eye on the fluids, and change the oil and filter out after a couple hundred miles then again around 1,500 then go to the usual every 3k

 

Yea, keep it under control until about 3000 miles. Change your oil every 500 until the 3000, then gradually go back into raising hell. Thats what we did with my buddies camaro. Enjoy

 

You could just do like a buddy of mine used to say. "Run 'er 'till she develops". Bad part was that sometimes she would develop into a big boom. LOL. He is a gypo logger and was usually talking about some of his equipment.

 

Don't do a lot of ideling for the first 100 hours or so, And I would pull it hard

 

Run it like you stole it no more idling then you have to

Your on the right track...

Oil change at 500, 1500 and 3000 then run away. Forget about the cruise control for the first 5k.
