Default 4r100 vs 5r110??

not really sure what the difference are... but a 5 speed has got to be better then a 4 speed...

Has anyone replaced a 4r with a 5r? what advantages and disadvantages would it be?

And how about the new 6r in the new psd.....

What say you?

if you want to spend the money to ship it all the way across the country to them... and then have it sent all the way back... its a huge expense for us on the west side of country

Yup that's the down fall of being far away from any aftermarket shop that does good work... Theres no good builders local to me, all of my big ticket items have come from a different state. But on the same note it's worth the price from a place i can trust and I know it will work the way it's suppose to right out of the box.

Look into john woods... A 5r110 will not be cheap to make work in a 7.3... You would be better off paying for a Bts ...

I agree you can spend less and get a pos or spend more and get the best...
There is a good shop here in salt lake city that will rebuild it for $4500 and I have been told that it will be the last I buy... so BTS or local?

BTS...

I did the same thing...

"I'll build you the last tranny you ever buy"

Then 3 months later I was back... $500 for more upgraded parts and I was back on the road for 5 months... $900 more and I was back for a few more months... $1000 more and he told me not to come back again...

So I paid about 8k for that tranny when it was all said and done.

Then I paid $4800 for a Suncoast parts built tranny (because I didnt learn) and when it broke I pulled it (with help from some friends) at the builders shop, he replaced the broken part and we installed it again...

He tried to hit me for $500, and I picked the truck up one night... He can go *** himself before I will pay that bill...

Do it right and once. BTS

BTS! it's not even a contest. Who will stand behind their work years later? Not the local shop...
