hey guys i have a question about the front solid axel on a f-350, it pops when the axel pivot left or right and when i slow down to come to a stop it makes a sound like a grinding but its not a horrific sound like metal gears eating one another, im checking the fluid but im pretty sure thats not the case so if yall have any pointers please reply thanks

 

Sounds like its locked in 4x4 soooo make sure ur in 2 wheel back STRAIT up 10 15 yards, see if that helps also make sure ur hubs are on auto not lock as well

Does the front drive shaft turn while driving? If so you are not fully disengaging the front end, and will need to dissemble the front hubs. a good way to check if the hubs are disengaging is to lift the front end of the truck off the ground and spin the passenger side wheel with both hubs locked and then turn them to the unlock position. If the driver’s side moves with the hubs locked and do not spin with the hubs unlocked then they are working properly. That will tell you if your hubs are the problem.
