What I can say about flushing the upper reservoir is I don't think the oil in the crank case is circulating to the upper reservoir very effectively. The oil in the crankcase was recently changed and new looking. The oil I pulled out of the reservoir was black and thick. All I can say is after draining and adding a quart of oil to the reservoir and running the engine for 10 min to circulate the oil in the heads. And repeating this two more times the oil in the reservoir was significantly clearer. I'm not a rocket scientist but the way I see it thats got to be better for your injectors.
My approach was taken from another site:
1. Drain HPOP
2. Top off with oil
3. Run engine for a couple of minutes
4. Drain HPOP
5. Top off with Duralube
6. Run engine for a couple of minutes
7. Drain HPOP
8. Top off with Duralube
9. Run engine for a couple of minutes
It may seem excessive, but it makes me feel better. Plus hitting the injectors directly with the Duralube should help with longevity.

I have done the same thing. After an oil change, the oil in the HPOP remains dirty for an extended period of time. Since the HPOP has some extremely high pressures, it is reason to believe that it has very low volume. I have not attempted the WOT approach yet though.
My approach was taken from another site:
1. Drain HPOP Mmmm Air in to the injectors, thats great for them...
2. Top off with oil
3. Run engine for a couple of minutes
4. Drain HPOP Mmmmm more air in the system... really good for the injectors...
5. Top off with Duralube
6. Run engine for a couple of minutes
7. Drain HPOP Mmmm EVEN MORE AIR in the HPO system... Your killing your injectors you know that right?
8. Top off with Duralube
9. Run engine for a couple of minutes

Please DO NOT DO THIS PEOPLE.

I can tell you that it doesn't take very long to put a quart of oil on the ground if your truck isn't sitting flat or nose downhill a little...
Sure it isn't very much, but it adds up quickly...
