Default cold starts

yeah i know another cold start thread...my truck has been pouring out white smoke and idling pretty rough for around 30 seconds to a minute when starting in the mornings. smells like fuel. i know some smoke on start up is normal..but its not even winter yet.

the AIH was deleted by the previous owner. my question is that is this anything to be worried about and what is causing this? thanks for any help

Intake air heater has NOTHING to do with cold starts. nothing.

Check to insure your glow plug relay is working and go from there.

Is it actually having issues starting or just white smoke after it starts? The smoke is normal if it's really cold out...

it starts up decently...idles like it has a monster cam in it for a little while..and smokes like a train..but now the temps are back up into the 50s so its not having much trouble at all.

Glow plugs are not that hard to replace, just time consuming. Assuming one isn't gunk up and impossible to remove. If you end up replacing the plugs also do the 50 cent mod to the harness or if you don't want to deface money buy the shims from Ford for the harness.
