Default Front Motor Oil Leak?

Well I'm diagnosing all my oil leaks and this one has me stumped...oil is dripping down onto my steering stabilizer shock/bracket. Looks as if its coming from the oil pan or the front main seal. Which is more likely? Anyone have this issue?

Check the bottom of the HPO Res...

Otherwise there is the LPOP, Oil Pan, or front main...

where the dip stick enters the oil pan on the passenger side of the truck you will see a large nut. try tightening that. i had luck with stopping my oil leak by tightening that one seal.

Everyone mistakes this issue for a rear main seal. Its always your high pressure pump on the top of your engine leaking. Needs a new seal $20.95 for the seal+ a few hours of labor and your done.

Really???

How does an oil leak at the front of the motor get confused with a rear main leak...

This is because ford was dumb with the placement of the high pressure pump= bad engineering= people thinking it is bad rear main when its the high pressure pumps seals. and yes really. Ive owned three powerstrokes and they never had a rear main leak i believe that to be all hype from everyone always saying oh theres oil must be a rear main, ive had a million people tell me that. But the reason why the high pressure pump looks like a rear main seal is because there is an oil drain hole machined into the engines valley oil leaks from the high pressure oil pump will cause oil to run down the back of the engine and make it look like you have an oil pan or rear main seal leak.

oh whoops sorry i misread the question lmao my bad anyway to the front seal. First of all the front seal on the 2000, on the 7.3 if you have a leak on the front main seal/rear it usually leaks like a siv. But to know for sure go get yourself a UV light for 4.95 at walmart you will be able to use this on any vehicle. Next get UV dye around $8 buy it in yellow. Pour the dye in your engine. It wont hurt it. Run it and wait this will tell you exactly where your leak. HORRAY
