Default Dipstick issue

On the new truck, the handle for the dipstick had been broken off. I finally got it weaseled out with some needle nose pliers. However, now I can't get the dipstick back in. It is stopped dead in its tracks about 8" from going all the way back in. I have given it all she's got and nothing. I checked out the tube and it looks to not be damaged at all. Just won't get passed this spot. Any ideas?

grab it with pliars. you can only push it in half inch at a time. mine is like that.

Did you get a new one or just fix the old one? Mine is hard to get in and out, but it will go in without any help.

It's the old one. I got it out, the handle was broke off so i used pliers. Now the same dipstick won't go back in. I can inch it in most of the way, but with about 8" left on the dipstick, it is stopped dead in its tracks, I flipped it over and tried but no success. Bent the medal pushing to hard...

Sounds like you might have to replace the dip stick tube. And the dip stick. I wonder what would cause it to just stop like that.

I pushed the tube back towards the firewall a bit and got it to go all the way in... Still have to work pretty good to get it in there but it goes and that's all I was worried about... I definitely need a new dipstick cuz the handle is broke off.

What was causing it to hold up like that though? i have never experienced a dip stick that would hold up like that on anything. I mean anything. It’s just really weird to me so I’m interested to see what is causing this. The only thing i can think of it being is the dip stick tube bent.

or clogged.

i don't think it being clogged would cause it. mine is a PIA to get in. it slides out nice tho. i don't know how it would get bent tho

For S&G's, try pushing your tube back towards the firewall about an inch... Then give her a try and see if it smooths out a bit...
