Default A lot of heavy pulling on stock 01 and I am pleased

From August to about the middle of this month, I have the chance to really test the towing strengths of our F350. As far as I know the only mod is a Donaldson air box. Towed 3 Percheron's (draft horses like Clydesdales - estimated 2300 to 2500 lbs each plus the weight of a 4H steel trailer) to Colorado and also California. We thought we will be stuck at 50-60 mph on these mountain roads. Not really. Sometimes we would creep to 80 even on false flats. I also borrowed a flatbed to haul some hay and that was heavier than the horses, that was not bad either but I drove slower. Our horse vaulting team is really happy with this truck and the wife loves it. I love the low range for backing up because you can creep to a very slow walk without stressing the clutch too much. And our propert is not exactly that bid. I have to back the trailer with 1-2 feet clearance on both sides

I really do not see the need to put mods because I have pulled the heaviest that I would pull and so far even in the mountains I am not pissing people off by being the slowest vehicle on the road. but mechanic said that I should consider exhaust and an Edge.

i would get a exhaust to help keep it cool. then boost, pyro, and trans temp (if it's a auto) gauges to keep an eye on temps. as for the edge, if you're happy with the way it pulls, then don't worry about it. IMO, edge products are over rated. TS style chips are the way to go with the 7.3.

glad you like your 01! i have an 01 and a 95 that i haul everyday with commercially weighing around 16,000lbs empty and we haul much more than that loaded. i would get a boost and pyro gauge as you said its a manual so you don't have to worry bout trans gauge or a cooler. i'd get a dp tuner chip. jody builds an awesome chip, you will have more power with better fuel milage plus egt's will be kept to a minimum with his chip vs some of the other ts style chips out there that i have used. glad you like the truck!!!
