Here is my problem with My truck. I have a 1999 Ford 4x4 Super Duty with 7.3 I had a ford tech check out my truck was told that the IDM was getting bad and should be replaced. Had it replaced and it still runs the same. I have had the Map sensor, injectors 1 & 6 replaced as per ford. I replaced two of the blue boots and exhaust donuts. Still the truck runs rough. When I pull my LQ 32' gooseneck horse trailer going uphills the turbo does not kick in. The truck does not have the take off power as it did before. Is there something I'm missing to do. Can someone PLEASE help me try to fine the problem

 

A compression test might be helpful if for no other reason to rule out deeper engine troubles. All too often the techs use the electronic tests and ignore some basics. One dealer told my boss that he had low compression in one cylinder just by running a balance test and tried to sell him an engine and when I did a compression test they were all within specs.

 

Your at a point where someone needs to scan it and start from there... Ford just cost you about 1800 bucks for nothing.

 

I had the compression test done and it is in specs. i forgot to say that I'm getting a code of 1396 would this be part of the problem.
