ok i got my new truck about 4 months ago its an 02 7.3 with 74k on it. i know that was the first year with PMR's but my manufacture date is 10/01 so would mine have the forged rods or PMR's?? thanks for any help

 

2001 was the first year with PMR's. There are even some late 2000 with them...

Somewhere on the forum I have seen instructions of how to tell. There is a plug in the side of the block back by the filter somewhere that you can take out, then turn the engine until you see the rod bolts. It either has rod bolts or rod studs with nuts.One is the forged rods and the other is the PMRs I don't remember which is which off hand but if you do a search you can find the instructions.
