Default Hard to start. loosing fuel prime

my brothers truck is a 2000 7.3 and it just started having trouble starting after its been sitting for a few hours.

I have narrowed it down to a fuel prime issue for these reasons,
1. if you let the tranfer pump prime the systme for 15seconds it fires right up.
2. not an oil issue, removed sensor ontop of hpo tank and its full after sitting.
3. glow plugs are fine and pluse im in cali and its having this preblem when its 80 out.
4. no codes at all.

has anyone had this problem and know how to fix it. also where are the fuel check valves located on these engines that are susposed to keep the fuel primed when sitting.

thanks,
Ian.

p.s we just changed the fuel filter yesterday and that didnt fix anything.

I dont think that the fuel pump is your issue, but I would check the fuel pressure first. You can start and run these trucks with 0 fuel pressure, just gravity from the tank.

Check the fuel pressure.
