fuel mileage
OK yes you get what you get with a diesel. But if you have access to other means of fuel and you are still moderately stock running alternative fuels can work. "veggie oil" in any combination takes a conversion kit to run properly and over time depending on your access to it will br cheaper then diesel. Not much better fuel mileage tho. I run used transmission fluid filtered three times in a mostly stock engine. I get 20 on the hiway with 373 inch tires and a 6inch lift. I can run 100 percent but the power goes down and it smokes a little bit more. And I dont pay for the fuel. So I save money. Once I add more power the percent has to go down. And during the winter even with cetane booster I have to run at least 25 percent diesel because I don't have a fuel heater in tank.
i think aftermarket exchaust, cold air intake and a flash tuner like bully dog help with milage quite a bit my egt's went down quite a bit just cruising down the highway. when i had these simple mod done to my 00 7.3 i was getting 18mpg , 14 on the interstate. and i usually drove it like a teenager
I just bought a really nice 2000 7.3 (auto trans) and it only has 110K. It gets 19mpg on the highway running 65. I bought it specifically for this motor's ability to run WVO. It does it VERY well. The fuel rails actually heat the WVO just fine all by themselves as that oil has to travel through the heads to get to the injectors. I know three 7.3 owners who do it, one has put 50,000mi on his. No doubt ... you need a heat exchanger and a good filter but it works well if done right.
I would pick up a spare set of injectors for your WVO use. Its not if, but when you will need to replace them.
Also dont expect to get a core refund if you sent your old ones back, they will be trashed.

no problems thus far. I have a friend who has put thousands of miles on his and have met several people over the last two years who do this. The 7.3 is pretty close to being the perfect motor for WVO.
I have a biodiesel processor but when I consider how well it runs on WVO, why process?
