Default Adding a drag-up tank and tool box with room for a fith wheel.

I have a long box and want to put in the largest drag-up tank I can and also a tool box, probably a custom drag-up and a wide tool box, my question is how deep can I go and still have room for a fith wheel? How far infront of the fender wells does your hitch go, or if the trailer is further forward than the hitch how far from the inside of the front of the bed is it?

Are you talking about a true 5th wheel hitch or an in bed ball for a goosneck trailer?

No, a true fith wheel, for towing a travel trailer.

Most of the time they are centered over the axle so you could take measurements from there to decide how much room you have for the tank and toolbox.

yes center of axle or 1 maybe 2" infront of the axle..............just get a toolbox that doesnt go any higher than the bed rails and you will be OK...............I have mine like this plus another 6 maybe 8 " infront of that for my stacks

Yeah but when you have a fuel tank infront of that you run out of room for the 5th wheel or the actual trailer will swing and hit inside the bed.

Yeah but I was hoping to find someone who has one installed so they could tell me how far the front edge of the 5th wheel apparatus is from the front of the bed, and how far forward the actual trailer is when hitched., then I will know exactly how wide(front to back) the tool box can be and the same with the fuel tank.

I don't have one handy to measure at the moment. The hitch on the trailer only goes as far as the center of the fifth wheel and the rest of the trailer is above bed rail level so Whit is right that as long as you keep it below the top of the bed you can come all the way back to the hitch. You could have 2 tanks made that would fit on either side in the back of the bed and it wouldn't be a problem with the hitch either. Your best bet is to find someone close to you that sells the fifth wheels and go look at them and take measurements from that. You will have a better idea that way.

Yeah im going to go look too but I just thought I would get everyones opinion, maybe they know a trick or custom design that gets more room or something, I had a friend that took an L shaped tank and cut the top part to shorten it and it rides under the trialer neck in the bed against the tailgate. Thanks for the info.
