Default no start/hard start

a buddie of mine has a 2000 3/4 ton and we replaced the seals in the hpop and its ran fine for the week and now when you start it all it does is crank, tach moves no smoke, when the fuel bowl builds pressure theres a hissing noise like its sucking air, stops when pump shuts off, i replaced opr thinking that could be problem but nothing, fuel bowl is full and so is hpop res. any ideas????

I doubt it. HPOP wouldn't be intermittent like that...

okay since i cant get a comp on it, i got to looking and pulled the fuel bowl off and got to looking at everything cleaned it all up, i noticed a small little hair line crack on the inside of the fuel bowl where the top fuel lines screw to the fuel bowl, i know i need to replace this BUT could this cause the hissing and no start?

I know this is an old post but I am wondering if you ever found the solution. I have the same hiss and no start. I can sometimes tap on the fuel pressure regulator and it fires right up and runs perfect but sometimes no. I ordered a regulator rebuild but looking for any other posibilities to rule out. Thanks!
