Early 99 - Water in Fuel - Need Injectors???
First time having to work/diagnose a diesel!!!!
Need some of you guys help! Have an early 99 F350 Dually. Has an flatbed conversion and the gas filler had some "not so nice" adaptor work resulting in water getting in the tank. We dropped the tank and thoroughly cleaned it, changed filter, drained water using drain too. Runs a little better, but acts like it's still missing at least one cylinder or more. Idles terrible and barely moves under own power until about 1500 rpm then seems to build boost and takes off. Idles much better with water drain open. While idling we used infared heat gun on exhaust manifolds.... drivers side shows 360+ but entire passenger side shows 180 degrees, like it's dead.
Understand the water in fuel may have killed some of the injectors. But, how do we find out which injectors need replaced?
We know little to nothing about a diesel.... help please!!!
Thank you!
Scott

Buzz test tests all the electrical side of the injector, wiring harness, solenoid To make sure they are doing what they are supposed to be doing. It sends a signal to the injector and then makes a buzzing sound.
Then I would run a CCT (Cylinder Contribution Test) This test will be the one to tell you whether or not you have some bad injectors on the mechanical side. I forgot to mention it in my earlier post. Not sure what I was thinking...
I would think the exhaust temps are definitely a sign of an issue... Maybe CSIPSD will jump in here and clear up anything I missed.

I would suggest buying Auto Enginuity, which will allow you to run any test that a ford shop can run...
But short of that you can bet your issue is on the side that is cold, but it could be related to a wire issue, or an injector issue. Check your UVC harness and make sure they are all plugged in and have no melted wires.
