i have a 98 cummins 12 valve that needs quite a bit of tlc (bodywork,gaskets,clutch,tires,etc.) i met a guy today that has a 1999 f350 dualy 4 door crew cab 4x4 that is interested in trading straight up. well my truck has 160k miles on it his has 265k miles. im not familiar with a powerstroke at all and i know 265k miles is up there. good trade? its never had a programmer or chip of any sort and he said mostly highway miles. just wanting some feedback or some options on good maintnence for high mileage or if thats high mileage for one etc. and if its a bad idea to add some hp. thanks guys

 

As long as it's been taken care of and the previous owner has maintained it, should still be alright. I would ask him the things that have been done like if the injectors have ever been touched... Might want to do a compression test.

 

mine has 300,000 and runs as good as the day it was new as with proper maint they will go forever. mine didnt live an easy life but had good maint.
