Default bad news......

alright well ive got some bad news about my motor which really is going to set me bac on the plans for fixing up the truck and doing the engine build. i took my truck to a shop that a good friend of mine knows the owners of, they were looking at my truck and hooked it up to the computer and test drove it and all that stuff, they concluded that they think the truck has a scored cylinder, but to be sure they want to do a compression test, this is the third shop to tell me they think that, my friend knows how to build diesel engines so im not worried if it needs to be rebuilt but i dont kno where to get a new block. where can i get one?

I would just get a low mile used block with forged rods.

no no no just a term. long block would include heads and such probably intake. shortblock would be if i remember correctly everything below the heads. probably no water pump and such but you get the picture. pistons and everything would be in there

I'm just saying buy a low mile used engine. One that has forged rods. You don't want to do all this work and throw a PMR motor in there.

it depends what you can find i guess. if you can find a shortblock cheap then go for it. if not get the whole engine. if you do you're gonna have extra heads and other spare parts. up to you and what you can find
