I just checked my coolant and found it FULL of diesel fuel? The truck was running fine when I shut it off. its got 230.000 miles on it and hasnt givven me any trouble. What do I do to fix it? Cost if I do the work myself? I just got laid off this couldnt come at a worse time!!! ugh

 

I see a 2008 F-550 as your truck? Or do you have a 7.3?

Diesel in the coolant is a cracked injector cup or lifted injector cup.

 

NO sorry, the 550 was a truck the I drove in Afghanistan (armored) which is how I found this forum. I own and drive a 2002 350 with a 7.3. Do I have to pull the heads off to fix this? I heard a horror story about the cab having to be pulled off a ford truck to get the heads off? Im hoping this isnt my truck...

 

there is a special tool to removal/install tool to do them with the head on

its ford 6.0 that the cab or engine needs to come out get the heads off

 

No need to pull the cab on our trucks...

And no you do not need to pull the heads off to fix an injector cup. You need to remove the valve covers, pull the injectors and the cups are what the injectors sit in. I do believe you need a certain tool to get the injector cups out but CSIPSD would know way more about that than I do.

 

the tool looks like a big tap you screw into the cup where the injector sits and you pry them out

the install tool looks like a injector, red loctite if i recall to hold them in

need to drain the coolant and fuel system before removing the cups

 

delco diesel okla city ok charged me 600.00 to fix mine you can buy a tool from whitaker for 300.00 goto their web site for inj cup removal tool and utube watch him do it

 

I think Clay @ RiffRaff has the tool you need and the cups as well.

 

From where can You order new cups to change them?
