Default Annoying knock

02 PSD with 190K. I had this shut down at 55 and building due to a HEAVY shot of water. That took out nr 8 injector.(had it replaced with a NEW AE) Had another one and maybe 2 that were not working well so replaced 1-7 with AD injectors. The noise is either a valve or one NOISY injector. Would an AE normally be much louder than the AD's? The sound of the exhaust tells me something is not perfect but pyro is normal, boost normal and no real miss to the engine. If the AE is not normally more noisy is there a place I can check without taking this into the shop and having it hooked to the computer?

I know the first thing that'll be asked...did you get it scanned/continuity test? How long have you been driving it since the work was done? It takes a bit for all the air to get worked out of the system. My question, can you hear the knock standing next to the truck, or just sitting in the cab?

Default Annoying noise

been driving it about 3 months. no scan. I can hear the click both in the cab and standing anywhere around the front of the truck. Thank God for this site, after I replaced the 7 injectors I found out what all of the guys were saying about driving it like you stole it. Until I really got on it, the air was not going to come out of it. would a shop be able to tell me if there was something like a bad tappet? I run a stethescope down the upper edge of the head and don't think that it's in the valve train but the sound around the front of the truck sounds a lot like that.

Ocean diesel: agn thanks. I've been reading a lot more here and came up with the idea of putting some 2 stroke in with the fuel for a while and see if the noise goes away. Have a trip to Seattle coming up so lots of miles for the test and if that doesn't work I guess it's to the shop for a computer scan.
