Default striaght piped and very disappointed

So i just put a 4" straight pipe exhaust from the turbo back and holy hell these 7.3 are quite. WTF i thought it would be loud. my 2006 durango with a magnaflow exhaust is louder and my 06 straight piped cummins is way louder at an idle. Any ways to get more of a sound out of these fords or is this about as loud as they get? I can really romp on it and it barely turns heads, i like my trucks to have some type of sound out of em but i guess the whistle is kinda cool. any ideas

dump the exhaust under the truck...i did that to mine and it made it hard to talk on the phone at anything over 2200 rpm

Dump it right after the downpipe. That ought to make it louder.

Get a video of it!

The longer and bigger the tip u have always helps... IMO i'm not a fan of ''dump'' exhausts at all... i know its simple and i'm not bashing i just thinks its half-assed and you can get the same sound with a regular exhaust done right that compliments your truck and mods...

yeah i mainly think im just used to the sound of my cummins. and yeah im not gonna cut it either. i will get a chip and intake and big tip and just have to deal with it. im gonna keep this truck for a bit by end of the year or early next year i will be back in a cummins. dont get me wrong though this 7.3 is kinda starting to grow on me

A tip wont change the sound...I don't remember but when i chipped my truck I don't think the sound changed. I think what you got is what you got. An intake might help a little.

a tip ''will'' change the sound of it.. making a truck sound good and just sound loud is 2 different things... everything makes a difference.. the shorter the tip the more ''crackle'' you will have at high rpm's... a rolled edge tip will add some noise cause its that extra lil edge for the sound to vibrate off of... a turn down will increase the sound esp from longer distances away but does add cab droneput the tip at to much of an angle the wind from driving affects the vibrations at the end of the tip and the way it exits the tip... put it too straight out the back... well it justs looks gay...

yeah i dont want just loud i want a good sound as well but im serious when i say this thing is quite it has a little deeper tone but not much. I was thinking when i straight piped it it would have been like my dodge and a HUGE difference in sound. at an idle i can hear the motor over the exhaust and im standing at the rear of the truck, oh well maybe thats just something im gonna have to get used to with these fords
