Default 7.3 Crankcase? Confused

Ive got a buddy looking at a 1999.5 7.3 Powerstroke. The truck has a 4in exhaust and a TS 6 position Chip. We looked under the truck and found a "Crankcase Filtration System" it had a bleeder valve and the valve was a little nasty. WTF is a Crankcase filtration system?

its probably just the breather that your talking about, the previous owner probably did the CCV (Crankcase Vent) mod, which is where your re-route it from your intake tube to somewhere else

when you start the truck does it haze a little bit of white smoke? and smell like chit?

Look at the top of the motor... It is a late 99 if it has the intake air heater on the Y pipe after the intercooler, right where it splits to both intake manifolds. If you dont understand that, look above the passanger side valve cover, if there are two big (about 2") relays, its a late 99. If only one, its a early...

Done deal, no if's-and's or but's about it.

Another thing about this truck he's looking at. It has a chip. At first I figured it was a TS 6 postion, but after driving it, it didnt seem as strong as a TS chipped 7.3. I've rode in 7.3s with the TS 6 position, and this did not feel the same. So I noticed that some other chips use the same ****. So my question is, is the TDP 5 position Chip good? If its a TS why the hell does it not run? The truck runs fine, no hesitation or anything.

I guess the only real way of finding out, is taking it out and seeing what it is. No matter what my friend wants to send it to Tony Wildman and have the tunes he wants on it.

the guy may have it tuned down cause he may not have wanted as much power, and i would go with PHP before Tony, just cause i've seen a few trucks have some pretty shitty tuning, and he has taken for ever the times i've tried to get ahold of him so i just went with PHP and have ZERO regrets, i love their tunes he did an awesome job on my stroker
