Your problem is that too many people on the internet (and in sales) describe the "wicked wheel" (or similar stepped-blade compressor impeller wheels) and ported compressor housing as PERFORMANCE modifications, when in fact, they ARE NOT. They are both designed to do the same thing: They REDUCE airflow to help reduce or cure compressor surge. Installing both can reduce airflow excessively.....and just make a lot of noise. The stock compressor wheel in the 99.5-03 trucks is more efficient at moving air and makes a good bit less noise, so if you feel like reversing a bit of your work, I'd chuck the aftermarket compressor wheel and keep the ported housing.

Usually doing one or the other will take care of your surge issue....there is rarely any need to replace both parts.

Sorry.

What they said, I ran every combo of factory turbo, drop in turbo you can run...

ATS/1.00 exhaust housing was the best combo for the factory turbo, but really a waste of cash...

I would put the factory compressor wheel back in!
