Default Cranks over for a long time then finally starts

There has always been a couple of drops of motor oil on the floor after a long travel (20-30 miles) that I expect is coming from the valley of the motor because I've seen fresh oil in the valley since I bought it (143,000miles By the way) I ran into a no start problem, drained the oil rail and then pulled two injectors out, then put it all back together, without replacing the O rings on the injectors. Now it cranks over for an excessivly long time and then finally starts, and when I shut it off there is more oil than usual on the floor cannot find where it is coming from I suspect the valley of the motor and down the backside. Is the long start because of the oil rail being drained now air in the system, Or the leak of oil from somewhere
on the top of the motor. or the fact that I didn't replace the O rings. I did not take the HPOP apart by the way but did take the top fill plug out to check if oil was in it (approx. 1in from hole found oil in HPOP)What and the heck did I do know

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

haven't done anything to it but the time it takes to start is getting shorter everytime I start it(down to 2.47 sec from key turn to fire) and the oil drip is down to a couple of drops again still don't know were it is coming from but oil Ithought was in the valley is a mix between oil and diesel fuel. So my thoughts are it was air in the oil system

Sounds to me like a bad HPOP (High Pressure Oil Pump). That's what opens the injectors.

I am pretty sure the injectors are a use once deal. If you pulled them you gotta replace them

You need to pull those two injectors again and replace the O rings on them. NEVER pull a PSD injector without putting new O rings on. Also make sure the copper crush washer comes out with the injector and replace that as well. It comes with the washer as well.

Any time you open up the HPO system it will take 50-100 miles of driving before the truck will start like it should. Air in the system takes time to work out.

IDM fires the injectors, then the oil goes thru... Like I said above when you open the HPO system it takes some time to get the air out.

Correction... Injector O rings... not the injectors!

i was having the same problem with the oil and fuel mix dripping its probably coming from the two little o-rings on the back of the fuel bowl i swore up and down it was oil but took it to a friend because i couldnt figure out where it was coming from and thats what it was. the kit from ford has 2 new orings and the water in fuel drain valve assembly. really easy to replace took me about 15 mins to install, ill get the part numbers if you suspect thats what it is, they say the orings are getting eaten up from the low sulfer fuel and causes a slow leak down into the valley

That's what the mechanic said that scanned my truck this morning so i took the turbo of the top of the engine and exposed the valley and took a case of brake cleaner to it and cleaned out all the muck there was oil under neath the turbo and fuel in the front next to the seperator cinched down the fuel lines and drain valve also fuel heater. I suspect the oil came from the rubber connectors that enter the manifold the hose clamps were not tight at all and coated the most with oil and sludge. With all the crap gone it will be easier to trace were it's coming from exactly.

The leak is probably the fuel bowl. If not fix it anyway. The kit is like less than 10 dollars for the 3 rings
