i just bought this truck last week and it ran fine, but around where i am stationed there isnt a whole lot of roads over 60. so im driving along and i get into the throttle an try to pass traffic and i hit 68 and low and behold the rpms dont raise truck dont speed up or nothing. could my truck be governed down or how do i fix this?

Yes thats all it goes, but its good to know that nobody could hurt it.How many rpms will it top out at and what kind of transmition?

 

If his RPM are high, then he mite have 4:88 gears

 

its a 2002 f350 drw 7.3l with a 6 speed trans 4X4

 

Was it once a company truck or something like that? What RPM's did the truck stop at and in what gear?

 

overdirve and about 2100 rpm, i dont think it was. i just bought it from a lil rinky dink dealership, i mean everything else is fine it runs like a champ fires right up everytime has no problem gettin a move on up till 68 then its like it just doesnt feel the need to move faster. i mean it is geared high i know cause first gear runs out at 10 mph then 2nd at 20 and so on up through the gears.

 

Its got a limiter on it... Look at the PCM and see if it has a chip in it... PCM is located right above the parking brake foot peddle. It may be chipped and the chip is in the valet setting...

 

how do i turn valet mode off?
