Default cold air intakes

OK after looking at some different cold air intakes, it appears to me that AFE gives their customers the most info, If I'm wrong correct me accordingly. That pro dry filter they make has my attention, but do you see same gains and benefits with that as you would with the oiled filter? That I know can be a multiple choice given different folks drive in different climate conditions, pro dry just seems easier on the maintenance anyone have any experience with these? are the cheaper brands better? I don't care fact or opinion I wanna hear it all.

I had the AFE stage 2 for several years. Really liked the system, the clean look, etc. Just got really tired of cleaning the filter, could have bought the pro dry i guess, but decided to switch to the TYMAR Intake/Coolant filter system. Thats one of the reasons i did, because his coolant filter mounts to his battery tray. Both are good systems, i prefer the TYMAR. the TYMAR INTake is about half the cost of an AFE System

We sell these as well. I haven't really pushed them as they are a bit more pricey than others I think, but I just ordered one this week to put on my truck. Made by Injen and have our Ea filter in it. Very nice units, not sure they are any better?? It is a dry filter that can be cleaned.
Here is a link to the photo page. Your truck is either on page 156 or 157 depending on if you have the MAF sensor.
Just thought I would share

wow thanks for the input, you know I checked out all the different brands and I can't say one of you is wrong for going a certain route I guess its different strokes for different folks. haven't made a full decision yet thinking the Tymar might be the way to go, I just don't think i'd be an efficient oiler of my filter, might even over oil the darn thing. leaning towards the tymar. I could go with an AFE pro-dry but I think it might be a little glorified. an advantage I see to the S&B though is that it is in a sealed box, Tymar filter is exposed how's the Tymar holding up to the weather Diezel Dawg? If I go that route learned plenty about producing a DIY but if I go that route I want the real deal so will fork out the dough for brand name. Haven't made a for sure decision yet though gotta look at all the brands again

I stand corrected S&B makes a dry filter as well gotta do some research on that.

some beach gotta admit like both S&B and Tymar, both have a disposable filter, toss-up for me.

ya I heard real good things about those too, this is actually going to go on my dads 97 7.3, which I don't think they make the AIS for, thinkin the tymar might be the way to go, kinda the hog of a filter for a hog of a truck. I just loaded up a chick with some hay she was hauling 80 bales/4 ton behind their flatbed powerstroke and actually said the thing barely pulls anything, I didn't want to argue with her because they might have a legitimate prob with the truck, didn
ask if under the hood is well taken of, or how much she demands when towing SOB sounded fine to me though just kinda got a kick out of it cuz my 96 F-250 with a 460 has pulled 100 bales behind her, won't lie that the trans was working hard an she was doing all of 25 mph up a grade but she was still moving and I don't ever expect her to do anything but run, an run she does. anyways I'm off topic, just had to comment on it

They may make the AIS for the 1997 PSD. I got mine at dieselpowerproducts.com, they shipped it right away with the optional "Sleeve" Check them out if you have time.

Good luck
